03 Apr ” 3 tips on how to survive the first 6 months of blogging”
Hi, ladies!!! Hope you are doing well. I just celebrated my 6-month blogiversery, 2 weeks ago!!! Yea!!! Happy dance!!! I decided to share 3 tips that helped me survive the first 6 months of blogging.
1. Attend a Blog Conference!! Guys seriously this was the best investment I made early on in my first 6 months of blogging!! I was armed with a lot of useful information and had the opportunity to network with other driven and awesome bloggers. For more information on my experience click My experience at the Blog Elevated Conference
2. Listen to a podcast!!!! I will be honest. Before entering the world of blogging I didn’t even know what a podcast was!! Yep, I’ll claim that. To me, it was just another media outlet that I had no use for. However, podcast’s have been my savior and motivation tool when trying to figure out all the moving parts when it comes to creating and being consistent with a blog. Not to mention they are FREE! Here are some of my favorite podcasts listed below and why:
- Mattiologie- You guys may have heard of Mattie James if you are a blogger. And if you have not stop what you are doing and download her podcast ASAP. She is phenomenal!! Her podcasts are loaded with useful information from how to go about having a professional business email to what items you should invest in when starting a blog. Her podcasts are short and to the point and always come with easy actionable steps that you can apply to your blog!! Her podcasts are perfect for new bloggers.
- Upgrade your influence, social media strategy, goal setting, branding… – Erin Baynum is the creator of this podcast and her background is in social media marketing and media kits. Her podcasts are super helpful with great tips on how to build and grow a blog through social media. As a blogger, this is such an important piece. She also provides great strategies to stay organized and consistent when blogging.
- WCW Podcast show- WCW stands for Womaneur Crush Wednesday’s. This podcast helps with my motivation. You don’t have to be a blogger to listen to this podcast. Every Wednesday you will get to listen to amazing and inspiring stories of several women who are entrepreneurs and businesswomen and share their journey. This podcast is one of the catalysts for pushing me to start my blog! You will be left inspired and in awe of some of these women stories.
3. Join a blogging group!!!!!! Whether it is a Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, whatever platform you choose, it will help your blog and social media presence. This was imperative because not only are you surrounding yourself with like-minded people, but you are able to bounce ideas off of each other and receive feedback to help with your blog. It is a great support system to have and you can ask questions and talk about the different aspects of blogging that you will not be able to do with friends or family. It’s really important so you can start to build your tribe.
Those are 3 tips to survive the first 6 months of blogging. I love sharing tips and strategies about my personal experiences that were helpful for me. Hopefully, you can use some of those tips. If you are a blogger, creative, or a content creator starting out, I hope this information was very useful. What are some tips you are currently using that has helped with the growth and progression of your blog?? Leave a comment below.

Posted at 22:49h, 03 AprilGreat post, Janel!! I’ve been blogging for about 5 months, so I found this super helpful. I need to look into conferences, blogging groups, and the podcasts you mentioned. There’s a podcast I enjoy listening to…Smart Passive Income. It’s not specific to blogging, but many of the episodes have information that would be useful to bloggers.
Thanks for this post!

Posted at 22:19h, 05 AprilGreat tips! I need to attend a blogging conference. It’s on my list for this year. I created my blog a year ago, but I’ve been blogging consistently for about 6 months. The biggest thing I’ve learned (and am still learning) is to be realistic and patient with yourself. It’s easy to get caught up in what others are doing and how often they’re posting. Everyone’s journey is different, so we all have different obligations with our time and energy. Do what works best for you…just be consistent with it.

Posted at 01:18h, 06 AprilYou will not regret going to a blog conference!! So much powerful and useful information. Thank you for sharing those great tips. I think consistency is so important and can be really hard because life does not hold for anybody!! I have to remind myself constantly not to get caught up in others peoples present situation and focus on journey and do the work!!!

Posted at 17:19h, 07 AprilThese were very helpful tips. I have never attended a blogging conference, but that will be added to my list of things. Definitely agree with the podcast, I have quite a few I’ve subscribed too. One of my biggest lessons learned is that you will make mistakes and that’s ok. It’s all a learning experience, and just be you.
