13 Feb “7 easy and chic ways to style sneakers”
Sneakers, kicks, tennis shoes, different names, but still mean the same thing. They are essential for a functional wardrobe because they are our off duty go to footwear!!! You know when you reach for that favorite pair of sketchers or Jordans you are wearing them because they provide the ultimate comfort and give you a sense of relief because you don’t have to try too hard with the rest of your outfit!! Personally, I could not live without my sneakers. As a teenager, I was an athlete and played soccer, track, and basketball and athletic sneakers are all I knew. It was a big part of my uniform and the tomboy side of me transpired as I became an adult. I wanted to find creative and easy ways to incorporate sneakers into my wardrobe other than the usual running shorts and sweatpants!!!
They are reliable when we have to make a quick run to the grocery store, go shopping, run to the bank, or gear up to go to the gym. Now, there are 2 types of sneakers, that some of us may have in our shoe collection:
- Workout sneakers, running shoes, cross trainers etc, that are made for physical fitness
- Stylish sneakers. This consists of your converses, sketchers, Jordans, keds, pumas, sambas etc. Their function is more for style and comfort.
So in this post, I will be talking about how to style sneakers that you own in category #2. I will give you 6 comfortable and chic outfits that are easy to incorporate into your weekend or casual wardrobe. Giving you a fresh perspective on how to get multi uses out of your sneakers. Ready?? Let’s get started.
Outfit #1: Wear them with a dress. What!!! A dress!! Yes. A dress. Think of them as a perfect alternative to that flat or sandal.

Outfit #2: Wear them with a skirt. Long or short it does not matter, whatever your preference. It is such a great contrast adding sneakers which are so casual to a skirt which is so feminine. But at the same time creates an effortless and chic outfit. Great outfit to wear for errands or to catch a casual lunch with your girlfriends.
Style tip: Choose a sneaker that exemplifies your personality by choosing your favorite color, pattern, make, or texture. Ex. I love leather and these Nike Thea premiums are made of leather. It will instantly add character to your wardrobe.

Outfit #3: Wear them with textured pants. If you are more daring and want an edgy vibe to your outfit, try wearing your sneakers with faux leather. I styled it with a simple fitted t-shirt and faux leather bag with gold hardware detail to still give that edgy vibe. Great outfit to wear to brunch!!

Outfit #4: Wear them with shorts. And no not your average running shorts!!! Try them with jean shirts, boyfriend shorts or shorts with texture as I styled here. An easy and simple outfit.
Outfit#5: Wear them with jeans. You can go as basic as your favorite jeans or pair them with distressed boyfriend jeans as styled below. I added a jacket with patches because it gave that vintage feel and added to the casualness of the outfit. This is something I would wear on the weekends to run errands. Very comfortable and laid back.

Style tip: If you choose to wear your stylish sneakers with jeans, they look better with cropped jeans or boyfriend jeans like styled in the above picture. This way it shows off your ankles and makes the sneakers more visible. You want to show them off!!!
Outfit #6: Wear them with a blazer. You don’t have to only wear sneakers with casual items, try a blazer our a structured jacket for a more put together look. You could wear this look to lunch at a casual spot or running errands.
